New year, new beginnings, brand new dance space! The Portsmouth Ecstatic Dance has now moved to Four Bodies Wellness, just across the border in Eliot, Maine- and we can’t wait to kick off 2026 dancing!
Ecstatic Dance is not choreography — there are no steps to learn, and there is definitely no way to do it wrong. This dance is the free expression of everything swirling within you, and Ecstatic Dance is the dance floor to set it all free.
Here we practice BELONGING- a welcoming smile, an invitation to be FULLY expressed, and a big ol’ HELL YEAH to taking off the masks of the everyday to reveal your wildest self.
The flow of the night:
6:45pm: Doors open, Warmup and Arrive
7:00pm: Opening Circle & Cacao Ceremony
7:15: Free Dance with DJs Ankati & Breezy Bruce
8:45: Soundscape with Kevin Sadoski & Closing Circle
There are four guidelines.
Consent is the law of the land. Every dancer is welcome to their space; if you want to dance with, hug, or otherwise share contact with someone, get permission first.
No talking on the dance floor; please speak in quiet voices in the Chill Space only, and let the music and movement guide the dance!
No phones on the dance floor, including videos or photos of the dancers. Take this time to engage directly with the world and set your screen aside!
This is a safe, substance-free dance space, and we hold a high value on clarity of presence: please do not arrive intoxicated or partake in substances during the dance. We get naturally ecstatic on the movement, not on alcohol or drugs.
