About Munay Sonqo, Our Retreat Center

Munay Sonqo is a beautiful nature-inspired yoga and transformational retreat center in the Sacred Valley of Peru. We’ve mindfully created this intentional space for spiritual seekers, yogis, plant medicine tribe, and those looking for a reconnection to the natural world.

The name, Munay Sonqo, means “Loving Heart” in Quechua, the very beautiful and poetic language of the Incas. At Munay Sonqo we have a heart-felt mission to create a nurturing environment for healing, learning, regeneration, and expansion.

Each villa at the center reflects the Andean culture of the Sacred Valley, and are mindfully created using local and natural materials. Thanks to our staff, the entire center embodies the kindness, love, and wholeness that permeates this magical place.

The food: We provide high-vibrational meals tailored to our guest’s transformational journeys.

The produce we use is locally-grown, fresh, and mostly organic from the farms of our Ngo Sach’a Munay, who also provides us with hearty organic eggs. Our water comes from the above mountains and is filtered through a Kangan filter.

Our phenomenal Peruvian chefs love to adapt their cooking to each unique group’s needs and desires. We can cater to various dietary restrictions including Gluten free, Dairy free, and Vegan.

Meet Your Facilitators!

Ankati has been practicing yoga since she was 19, and has been teaching since that fated day she hopped a plane to Costa Rica in 2012 and her entire “life plan” shifted dramatically. She is an eternal student of movement, music, poetry, Shamanism, and her insatiable curiosity. She believes deeply that we are here on Earth to awaken our innate joy through play and exploration — and she continues to weave her gifts and learnings into immersive experiences for students and participants.

Ankati is an ERYT-500, and has been sharing the teachings of yoga for 11 years now. She can’t wait to share the magic of the Sacred Valley!

Tosha has been teaching and sharing yoga for over eight years. She has been inspired by yoga since she was a little girl when her mother would close down the blinds, light an incense and a candle and roll out her mat. Avidly practicing since she was 15 years old, yoga asana is her first love with fully connecting with herself.

Over the years Tosha has devoted her passion to Self discovery. The exploration of one's Self is a most exciting act as how we care and tend to ourself is directly reflective out to the Cosmic Collective. Each day is an opportunity to learn how to be. Be free to be in our true nature. Through stillness and silence, movement and song, communicating and expressing. Tosha believes through play we can tap more and more into our passions. To approach Self discovery with curiosity.

Flights, Climate, etc.

You’ll fly into Cusco Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, (CUZ/SPZO), Peru. If you are arriving on September 8, you’ll need to arrive prior to 1pm to catch the group shuttle, or you’ll need to take a separate shuttle (which I can help you organize, at your own cost) to Munay Sonqo. It is about a 1.5hr journey from the airport to the retreat center. Please do not book your return flight before 3pm on the last day of the retreat. We will conclude after breakfast, and departures could begin as early as 9:30 if needed. If you plan to extend your stay with time in the Sacred Valley or in Cusco, we can help with recommendations.

September in the Sacred Valley- sunny with highs around 70F during the day, with evenings cooling down to the upper 40’s. You’ll need to pack for both climates, remembering that being at altitude can make the sun feel much hotter. Anticipate that our morning class in the Yoga Temple might require you to start with a layer and end with some sweat!

You are welcome to bring a yoga mat or use one from the Center. Please bring a bathing suit for the Temezcal.

WHERE WE’RE GOING

The Sacred Valley in Peru holds a special place in the hearts of those fortunate enough to visit, for it is a realm where nature and history entwine in a profound and palpable embrace. As you stand amidst the emerald terraces that cascade down the mountainsides, you can't help but feel a deep connection to the earth and its ancient guardians. The valley's fields, tranquil rivers, and towering peaks evoke a sense of wonder and reverence, as if the very soul of the land speaks to you of the many generations who have walked here.

What truly makes the Sacred Valley extraordinary is the palpable presence of the past. The weathered stones of Ollantaytambo and Pisac seem to echo with the voices of the Inca, sharing their secrets of architectural brilliance and spiritual reverence. This is a place where history is not just recorded in books but etched into the very landscape. If you listen closely enough, you can hear the stories from the Apus.

In the Sacred Valley, you don't merely visit a place; you embark on a soul-stirring odyssey that touches your heart and leaves an indelible mark on your spirit. It is a place where the past and present converge, where nature and history conspire to create an enchanting tapestry of memories that will forever remain etched in your heart.
